Standard Architectures

Tracewell System has extensive experience designing and manufacturing systems based on standard architectures including VPX, VXS, VME, VME64x, VXI, ATCA, MicroTCA, CPCI, and PXI.

Our knowledge includes a thorough understanding of the specific attributes of each architecture such as electrical interconnect, power distribution, mechanics, and thermal, including the latest REDI requirements per VITA48, as well as the common interrelationships that exist between many of these architectures. More importantly, Tracewell knows how to effectively apply these attributes for operational requirements, ranging from ground benign to rugged-mobile and airborne applications.

Whether the application calls for standard VME64 or high-speed VPX with integrated custom I/O, Tracewell has the experience and understanding to get it right the first time. As the amount of available user I/O increases with today's modern serial architectures, a need for understanding signaling beyond that of the basic specification has become increasingly important. Tracewell often sees requirements to integrate customer-specific I/O within the design to provide high speed serial, control, video, and fibre optic interconnect. Many times these requirements also include high signal isolation requirements. Handling these requirements at the backplane and system level requires careful attention to maintain proper signal integrity of both the architecture and customer-specific I/O signaling.

Tracewell's engineering knows a great deal about performance boundaries and we can sometimes bend the design rules of a standard to provide that little extra degree of margin for power or signaling, or eliminate an unneeded element such as a bridge module. It is this depth of understanding that allows Tracewell to deliver a more efficient design and better performance.

Tracewell is an active member of numerous industry standards organizations such as VITA, PICMG, PXISA, and VXI. Our products support a wide range of standard architectures including VPX, VXS, VME, VME64x, VXI, ATCA, MicroTCA, CPCI, and PXI.
