Our electrical design expertise includes all aspects of system design including power, backplane, embedded micro controllers, communication protocol, printed circuit board design and analog/digital I/O.  Our creative design capabilities solve component specification and connection issues.

Printed Circuit Board Design

Tracewell designs multi-layer PCBs for electronic assemblies and backplanes using Cadstar. We have an extensive library of parts, both through-hole and surface mount, which can be imported into the design. The connection list, components library and BOM are all generated using part allocation and imported into Cadstar and Oracle from the schematic developed in Cadstar. We also have the capability to review OrCAD schematics and modify/design PCBs with Protel. In addition to card design, Tracewell has the ability to import a 3D model of the PCB assembly into either of our mechanical design packages to accurately model the overall design.

Electronic Design, Simulation and Analysis

Accomplished using PSpice and Mathcad, as well as analog and digital oscilloscopes, dataloggers, thermal analysis equipment (including environmental chambers), network analyzers, programmable AC and DC voltage sources and DVM’s, extensive testing is performed in Tracewell’s engineering laboratory. Tracewell performs conducted and radiated emissions, as well as lightening strike, fast transient and line surges and sags in our in-house EMI/EMC laboratory and life testing in our HALT facility.
