StarChase selects Tracewell Systems to engineer and manufacture its next generation Pursuit Management System

September 2, 2008

Tracewell Systems will engineer and manufacture the StarChase Pursuit Management System based on the original patented StarChase design. The Pursuit Management System is a tagging and tracking system that enables law enforcement to better control costly and dangerous high-speed automobile chases. The system, mounted to the front of patrol vehicles, employees a double barrel laser guided launcher that, once fired, will attach a GPS enabled projectile to a suspect’s vehicle to initiate a global satellite system which tracks the suspect instead of conducting potentially dangerous high-speed pursuits.  The product was awarded one of the most innovative products of 2007 by TIME magazine.

“Through the use of technology, a high-speed chase has been replaced with a safer-interdiction strategy,” states James Murphy, CEO of StarChase, LLC of Virginia Beach, Virginia. “Tracewell Systems was selected based on their innovative approach to design and their manufacturing capabilities.  An additional value Tracewell brings to StarChase, along with its engineering and manufacturing capability, is its professional program and project management competencies which will aid StarChase’s significant growth strategy.”

“StarChase is changing the way law enforcement engages with potentially dangerous individuals,” said Larry Tracewell, CEO of Tracewell Systems of Westerville, OH. “With Tracewell’s proven designs, experience with deployment of ruggedized electronic packaging and strength in military and aerospace systems, the partnership is a natural fit. StarChase has a compelling value to the public and we are proud of our involvement.”
